Mon 29 Dec 1997 North to South traverse of the Vercors on cross-country skis, staying at unmanned huts. This was a great introduction to cross-country skiing, courtesy of Mark Syrett. Ruth and Simon Love, Lucy Kelleway, Liz and I set off from Derby and within a mile someone had run into the back of us. We had to hire a VW van to drive down to Grenoble The skiing was tricky and ambitious for a first trip and sickness was passing through the team. We got plenty of practice at skiiing in the dark, arriving late at the hut. | ||||||
