A family camping weekend.
Fri 12 Aug 2005
We set off on Friday evening, despite a forecast of rain on Saturday, to camp at Llanmadoc Camping Site , Lagadranta Farm, Llanmadoc. The setting of the site is superb, overlooking Broughton Bay and a few minutes walk from the beach. The site is exposed and it was a breezy evening, though not strong enough to make putting the tent up a problem. We walked down to the beach, getting back to the tent as the sun was setting.

Saturday morning was windy but without the rain that was forecast so we walked down to the beach again to fly the boys' kites. They then had fun climbing the dunes and we worked our way along to Prissen's Tor. By now it had started to rain a little and as we climbed up from the beach it really started to pour down. By the time we were back at the tent we were soaked. We were glad the tent was big enough to be comfortable in as we had our lunch. Afterwards the rain was easing but still threatening so we got in the car and headed to Oxwich. After coffee and cake in the Oxwich Bay Hotel the rain had eased enough for a walk in the woods. We went past St. Illtyd's Church and on towards Oxwich Point, then back along shoreline rocks, rockpools and beach. For tea we stopped at The Greyhound Inn in Oldwalls.

The weather was better on Sunday and it was a pity you have to leave the site by midday. We spent the morning making sandcastles and dams on the beach. On the way home we stopped for a walk and picnic along Cefn Bryn from the Reynoldston road. This would be a great family mountain bike ride.
