Glen Spean, May 1996

Unsettled weather prevented any climbing but the walking was good.

With Jim, Dave Randell, Dave Gee, Nick Cassin, Sam, Conrad, (Ruth and Simon Love). We stayed in the biggest cottage in the world, Gallovie on the Ardverikie estate.

Fri 17 May 1996
Took the van straight from work, with Jim. Picked up a load of gear from Dave's and continued to Simon and Ruth's in Edinburgh (calling the AA out halfway to fix a dodgy connection on the stop solenoid).

Sat 18 May 1996
Ben More [Crianlarich]
and Stob Binnein near Crianlarich with Jim, Simon and ? on the way to the cottage

Sun 19 May 1996
All piled into the van and headed to Roughburn at the end of Loch Laggan, where we discovered that Jim had forgotten his boots. The others set off and Jim and I made a return trip to the cottage. We ascended Beinn Teallach
, meeting the others on their way down just before the summit. Jim and I continued and returned over Beinn a Chaorainn [Glen Spean].

Mon 20 May 1996
Seven of us (not Sam, who was stuck in the cottage with a broken leg) set out from Newtonmore, north and round the horseshoe of A'Chailleach [Monadh Liath],
Carn Sgulain and Carn Dearg [Monadh Liath].

Tue 21 May 1996
Geal Charn [Monadh Liath]
via an anti-clockwise circuit of Lochan a Choire.

Wed 22 May 1996
A day in Fort William to give Sam some fresh air and to check out the gear shops.

Thu 23 May 1996
From Aberarder, up the glen and onto Sron a Ghoire, then round Creag Meagaidh,
Stob Poite Coire Ardair and Carn Liath [Loch Laggan].

Fri 24 May 1996
With Jim and Conrad to the Drumochter pass. Started from Balsporran Cottages and climbed A'Bhuidheanach Bheag
via the demoted Munro Meall a'Chaorainn. Conrad wrote the words to Nice Arse on the way across to Carn na Caim .
